Media ownership: Concentration of media ownership (also known as media consolidation or media convergence) is a process whereby progressively fewer individuals or organizations control increasing shares of the mass media.[1] Contemporary research demonstrates increasing levels of consolidation, with many media industries alreadyhighly concentrated and dominated by a very small number of firms A Media Owner is a person, enterprise or organisation that controls, either through personal ownership or a dominant position, any media enterprise

Cross media convergence and technological convergence:
echnological convergence refers to the process where new technology is moving towards single platforms delivering multiple media outputs that can be used to reach audiences, for example, a PS3's primary function is video gaming but you can download and watch movies from Lovefilm.com on it and also watch catch up TV and music videos. Convergent technology is technology that allows an audience to consume more than one type of media from a single platform. Lots of aspects of the internet e.g. social networking, YouTube, online editions of newspapers and magazines are convergent but candidates cannot quote the internet as the sole aspect of their answer. Their answer needs to be linked into the media area they are talking about (Film, Music, Magazines, Newspapers, Radio, Video Games). E.g if they were talking about newspapers you could link in to their online editions and talk about how this differs from the traditional paper version and the opportunities it presents or if talking about film, candidates could, for example, point to facebook campaigns advertising a film or viral marketing spread via the internet. Digital projection is convergent technology because films that are produced digitally have moved away from the physical film medium and can be supplied to theatres in digital format (lower costs for distribution versus higher start up costs for theatres switching to digital technology). As the film is in digital format there are also cost savings as potentially less work needs to be done on the film to get it onto Blu-Ray, DVD, internet trailers etc as no physical conversion needs to take place because the film is already in digital format. Cross Media Convergence is really a Business Studies term and refers to companies coming together vertically or horizontally (or both). The example often cited in exams is of Working Title making use of its parent company(s) to gain access to bigger stars and a better distribution network for their films. Synergy basically means working together to achieve an objective that couldn't be achieved independently. Cross-media convergence can help with synergy if companies are wise enough to take advantage of the links they have forged. Disney is an obvious example of a synergistic company from the top down from Film Studio to Kids' TV Channel (where it further plays and promotes its films) to the Disney Store (in the street and online) where your kids can pester you to buy all the merchandise and DVDs/CDs they've seen on the TV/Web or in the cinema

synergy:  the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.
  1. "the synergy between artist and record company"

Digital technology:  The emergence of digital,Computerized, or network information and communication technologies in the latr part of the 20th century. Most technologies described as new media are digital. This is simply quicker, smaller, more efficient and compressed form of data storage when compared to older analogue methods

                                     Opening sequencc

What is an opening scene?
A film Opening scene is a part of a film where Characters,Scenes and perhaps
a part of the plot of the film is established for the audience. It can sometimees
consist of just text and various graphics.Other times it can be footage and
sometimes its both footage combined with opening Credits

Different Types of Opening Scenes.

Landscapes: A very usual start to an opening sequence is the display of
a cities skyline other times it can be just landscapes,Mountains,Fields etc

Naratives:Sometimes an opening sequence starts right off from dialogues
and narration describing past events of the present happenings or of
simply giving insights to the lives of the characters to develop a
back story

Action scene:Most action Movies start right off  from fast paced, with
quick cuts and quickly introduces to the audicence the genre of the
film and is best for enticing audiences to watch the film

Title sequences and Graphics:Often a film starts with not a footage
but graphics and title sequence animated to look more attracting\
It consists of the names of the work crew, credits to the actors,Production
team and the name of the films director. This is a much more subtle start
and helps in show the audience whom they will be watching

Sound tracks. These form a main feature for various Fims and helps set the
mood of the movies.Either slow, fast or dramatic

Action Movie :Jack Reacher

Main Characters:
Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise):  Involved after the 5 deaths, Barr after recovering from his coma asks for Reacher. At first it seems like a hopeless task however with the help of Helen they both unravel certain situations and come to conclusion that it wasn’t Barr.
Helen (Rosamund Pike): District attorney’s daughter who is defending Barr who's been saddled with the apparently hopeless task of saving him from the death penalty.
Rodin (Richard Jenkins): District attorney who is the father of Helen’s, who gets involved in later events of the film.
Emerson (David Oyelowo): A detective in Pittsburgh who is featured several times with certain attacks throughout the investigation  carried out by Reacher himself. In the end we notice that Emerson is working for the man himself the Zec.
The Zec (Werner Herzog): Is the mastermind behind the whole attack of the killing of the 5 innocent citizens. However there was a reason for such an attack, to make it look like there were just there to kill how Barr did previously before the film in military. They only wanted one person dead who owned a building site company.
Charlie (Jai Courtney): He in fact is the killer of all 5 innocent murders, however he frames Barr. Works for the Zec and goes by all of his orders.

Barr (Joseph Sikora): Gets framed for shooting 5 people. Asks for Jack Reacher, which leads to Reacher investigating the situation and eventually leading to Barr being innocent.

Plot:
When a sniper shoots randomly five victims, Detective Emerson finds evidence to incriminate the former paranoid marine James Barr. It is an easy case for the prosecutor Rodin, but Barr refuses to sign the confession and he calls Jack Reacher. When he is transported to prison in a bus, the other prisoners beat him and Barr goes to the hospital in coma.
The pacifist attorney Helen Rodin, who is the daughter of the prosecutor, decides to defend him but Jack Reacher is a former marine investigator that left the army and has become an unknown drifter. Out of the blue, Jack appears in the city and Helen invites him to work for her investigating the case. Soon he finds that the culprit is innocent and there is a conspiracy behind the murders.

Mis.en.Scene
•Examples of Mise en Scene
:
An example of when mise en scene is used is in the opening sequence with the props as bullets. The use of these bullets gives us an understanding of how there might be an involvement of these bullets within the film and demonstrates the importance to the storyline.
•Another example of mise en scene used is another prop with the machine gun being attached to the main character. It gives us the feeling that this character is a important but dangerous man. Reacher clothing gives off certain signals such as, his type of clothes being like soldier/assassin type of costume to show us that he is a form of authority and may have a hidden mystery behind it due to the assassin look.

Iconography:
Iconography is used with the main character Jack Reacher. Reacher is a fictional and protagonist of a series of books from Jim Grant.
A former Major in the United States Army Military Police Corps, Reacher was laid off at age 36, and roams the United States taking odd jobs and investigating suspicious and frequently dangerous situations. For example in the film Jack Reacher comes across as this with particular clothing and characteristics.
